Ego Boost

I finished the New York Times crossword puzzle in under 20 minutes today at lunch.

I feel smart.*

*OK, not so smart, since it's the Monday puzzle. I have a theory that the Monday puzzle is just to make you feel good about yourself, since any normal human being will feel entirely brainless by the time they try the Friday puzzle and realize they know like three clues.

The NYT crossword is like an abusive spouse. After it beats the hell out of you out on Friday or Sunday, then it comes back to you on Monday and treats you so well that when your friends and co-workers ask you about your black eye, you protest "you don't know what it's like when it's just the two of us! You don't see all the nice things it does for me! You don't see the tender moments! Maybe you're just jealous because you're still stuck in a rut with the Jumble!"

I agree, I think it's good for your ego after the weekend. I only attempt crosswords on Mondays.
